Some Of Our Benefits
North American Teacher Training Center for the HTEC Network
The Danville Community College HTEC CNC Training Center has the distinct honor of being one of a few teacher training centers for the HTEC Network of nearly 1500 member high schools, colleges and universities. Danville Community College, Haas Automation and HFO Jeffreys have invested heavily in the center to help ensure that it is an effective tool in helping HTEC teachers to receive the training and the credentials that they need to go back and take their programs to the next level. The Gene Haas Foundation annually supports the center with teacher training scholarships so that as many educators as possible can attend training and certification classes. Courses are designed to allow teachers to take the ideas and curriculum back to their schools and to implement them into their programs if they desire. Courses are built around NIMS credentials and teachers have the opportunity to become NIMS certified in each course.
The DCC HTEC CNC Training Center is housed in the Charles R. Hawkins Engineering & Industrial Technologies Building (EIT) on the Danville Community College campus in Danville, Virginia. The building has turned out Precision Machining graduates for over 40 years. It has just completed phase 1 of renovation to accommodate 12 new Haas CNC machines and a new state of the art Q.C./ Tool Presetting lab. It is slated for a complete renovation in the 3 year timeline. With 18 Haas CNC machines in the CNC lab alone, and 4 more in the Manual lab, DCC is well equipped for almost any type of CNC training. From 2-axis lathes, to 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis mills, to horizontal machining centers, DCC has your CNC training needs covered.
The Danville Community College HTEC CNC Training Center would not be a leader in the world of CNC training if it were not for its many outstanding partners. The center leverages the tremendous support that it receives from its partners and passes the benefits on to you. Benefits include modern CNC equipment, training scholarships, technical assistance and resources, cutting edge technology, blended training courses, and much more. DCC HTEC Partners include: Haas Automation, HFO Jeffreys, Delcam, Sandvik,Immerse2Learn, Master Gage and Tool, Automated Solutions, Inc., and B&W NOG.
Blended Training Courses
Nearly all of the training courses offered at the Danville Community College HTEC CNC Training Center take advantage of the power of blended learning. Courses combine textbook learning, online training and simulation, and hands-on training. This modern approach provides the best of both worlds. The flexibility and availability of online curriculum, and the time-honored value of hands-on training. In the seminar style classes, the online curriculum makes it possible for students to spend the majority of their time directly on the machines during the hands-on portion of the training. Each student has a machine to his or her self. For Haas setup and programming, Immerse2Learn's curriculum and emulator is used.
